I would like to know where i can go to share my ideas so that i can get this product on shelves. Since i don't want to say what it is, i can guarantee that this would be so cool to have available in stores and would like to make this possible to actually buy. I came here to D'addario's page mostly because, i'm a long time D'addario & Planet Waves user and their products are by far the most reliable. So if anyone could help me out and let me know where i can go to submit my ideas for this product, i'd appreciate it greatly. Thanks so much for your time!

I Desire Help To Find The Origins Of A Planet Waves Guitar Pick I Have.

I found a Planet Waves guitar pick on the floor of an arena in Australia in 2003. I went to all 10 shows on the tour, and can't remember which exact show. Support acts were Liam (son of Neil) Finn's old band, Betchadupa, and Ex-The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr (and his band of the time, The Healers).

Pick Description: black pick.

One side of the pick: "Planet Waves" in white text, with two lizards circling the text (also in white).

The other side of the pick: This drawing is all in white: a coffee cup with a guitar neck sticking out of it (instead of a spoon), and the coffee cup is resting on top of a skateboard.

Did Planet Wave ever sell picks fitting this description? Or is it a customized pick belonging to someone in one of the bands? Here is a link to the public pictures I posted (both sides) over at Facebook:

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150563936191983.431898.622331982&type=1&l=15346dc702

Any help, knowledge, hints on where else to look, and of course the answer! are all much appreciated. And thanks to those who may read this even if they cannot help.

Regards,

Randall.

St. Mark's DSP Effects Pickups Debuted At The Musikmesse Frankfurt Show

St. Mark’s D-60 D-70 DSP Effects Pickup。Not only is the St. Mark’s D-60 D-70 a preamp and chromatic tuner, it is a full signal processor. The strings are struck with little hammers.

I have been using a Conn Strobotuner ST-11 for several years and love it -- it has manual note select so it doesn't have to guess which note I'm trying to tune. It responds immediately and continuously. Recently the "C" has become unreliable, and while I debated whether to have it repaired or try one of the new strobe or strobe-like tuners, I got the PlanetWaves Tru-Strobe for Christmas.

First try: using the built-in mic only works if I hold the thing upside-down an inch above the string I'm tuning. It's too heavy to do that for more than a few strings. (I have 90 strings to tune.) Plugging in my alligator clip tuning pickup / transducer didn't give good results -- lots of no response at all, and when it did respond it frequently guessed the wrong note or flashed the display so briefly as to be no use.

Second try: I don't have a preamp, but tried passing my tuning clip through my mixer to boost the signal. The tuning clip has a 1/4" jack which I plugged into a channel's line-in, then used a speaker cable from line-out to the tuner. For most of my dulcimer's range, I got a quicker and steadier response this way, the the channel level and main level turned all the way up, but it still guesses the wrong note MOST of the time. And it's not even guessing a fourth or fifth above the note, but seems wildly random. I kept getting G#, A, F, F#, B, and E, for example, trying to tune G. The tuner didn't respond at all to the lower end of the dulcimer -- from about F below middle C and down. It also didn't hear the highest notes very well -- G and A above the C three octaves above middle C. Damping the strings I wasn't tuning didn't change the tuner's response appreciably.

Tuning this way took twice as long as with the Strobotuner -- so much just waiting for the thing to get the right note! By the time I was done I wanted to throw it out the window.

My Strobotuner didn't come with the mic -- I use the same tuning clip with it with no problems. I have the gain turned up all the way on it.

Is there anything I can do to make the Tru-Strobe respond more immediately, correctly, and steadily?

Lawsuit Proof Gibson?

Ha...what'll they think of next...this thing looks sweet!

Planet Waves Auto-Trim Locking Tuning Machines Brand new out of Box are defective. The heavier strings low E through G work just fine as designed. However, the tuner will NOT hold the high B or high E strings in place. I tried a half dozen times using a new B & E string each time and the same thing occured every time. I am a 250 pound male athlete, and trust me, it is not a matter of the thumb screw not being tightened.
I am thinking either the thumbscrew shaft or the ball bearing are not manufactured to specs and will not put enough force on the light gauge strings to keep them held in place.

I saw this same issue reported here a couple of times, and also saw the exact same problem posted over on the Warmoth Guitars forum as well.

Robot 1

Some pics of my buddys Gibson Flying V Robot 1 guitar. In January I reordered from a vendor in Virginia and received 100 70 mm picks which didn't feel right. They 're made of a different translucent material and feel as though they're blunt. Quite a nuisance, and for my style of paying quite useless.. Thinking that the vendor mis-shipped them, I tracked down a listing for .69 mm Duralins and ordered another 100 ( from the same vendor). The same thing happened and now I have 200 of these 70mms which I find useless. I initiated an Ebay dispute with the vendor who said there's nothing they can do as they order according to Planet Waves SKU numbers and therefore the problem lies with D'Addario. I'm still waiting on a D'Addario response.

Peter

Humidipak

Hey all,

Just got my humidipak system and when I opened it, it seemed firm. The analog wah sounded far better than the digital in that comparison.

Also, are there any which feature a toe switch, instead of a heel switch? Heel switches bug the crap out of me.

Thanks!

Tru-Strobe Tuner on a pedal board.

Hey there,

I am thinking about getting the tru-strobe tuner and putting on my pedal board as I have a tuner out on my looper pedal simply cos of its accuracy and it seems it has a much bigger display then other pedals...does anyone reckon it is susceptible to damage over time because the board will be moved about? I am not sure of how tough the strobe tuners are or how the insides work but any one got some insight? The other option is of course the TU-2...

Thanks,

Shane

"Tricking" a Stereo Pedal for Weird Effects

I've been thinking about buying a lone 1/4" plug to stick into one of the outputs of one of my stereo effects, just to see what kind of new effect it will cause. Has anyone else tried this?

I'd assume that the signal would disappear or phase away when the pedal tries to output signal to the dead-end plug, but would come back for the plug that sends the signal down the rest of the signal chain. Will this likely sound like crap, or could it create some useful sounds here and there?

Thanks!

Strap Pin?

Hi, guys I need some help with my guitar's top strap pin. I've had a quick look around and come across several amps that are ideal for what i'm after but if anyone has any other suggestions then i'm open. I don't know how to desrcibe what sort of amp I want but I quite like the following two. If I was to suggest two factors that play a role in choosing an amp is how loud it is and the price tag! Also I'm up for a challenge so if someone suggests a homebrew I'l check it out.

The two main ones that I've eyed up are

1) Orange Tiny Terror

This seems pretty nice and i've played through one but only with it just passed the clean area so I don't know what it sounds like a bit further up the "gain chain" if you like.

2) The Carvin Vintage 16

- All tube design - three 12AX7 preamp(Groove Tubes V1) tubes, two EL84 output Groove Tubes™ power tubes
- 1 Meg Passive tone controls for broad adjustment range.
- Front controls: VOLUME, SOAK, BASS, MID, TREBLE and REVERB
- Metal shaft controls, Ivory knobs, Red jewel lamp
- Strong Poplar plywood enclosure covered in thick TWEED
- Carvin VL12 speaker
- Output: 16 watts / 5 Watts, Pentode / Triode into 8ohms
- Single 8ohms speaker jack.
- CH EQ: 60, 650, & 11.5K Hz.
- Size: 16 inches wide x 8.5 inches deep x 17.75 inches high
- Weight: 31 lbs.
- 120V or 240V models
- Made in San Diego, California

I dont know if these are sold in the UK but this looks good. The bridge that was on it though was a single coil bridge. The single coil bridge is narrower than the humbucker hole, so the hole was visible on the sides of the bridge. Im gonna switch it back to dual humbuckers but im not sure which type to get. I have one seymour duncan "JBJ" which is hooked up to a coil tap switch. the coil tap switch should probably be moved to the bridge pickup though, right? that way i can still get the sound of a bridge single coil.

This pic below is what my finished product should look like, Townsend used this style of telecaster for years i guess. But anyway, what do you guys here think is the best pickup i should get? I play all styles of music so i would like something versitile enough to play crunchy metal but also smooth blues riffs

<IMG height=386 alt="Ca. 1982. I'm using an ibanez SDGR 4 string and a small 15w practice amp. The problem i experienced with the cable is that when i plug it into my amp all the way there is no signal, but if i just pull it out a tiny bit, just before the springs show, it works perfectly! Are there some compatibility issues with cheap amps? Is it defect?

Thanks for your time

Backline Engineering Products

A friend in Germany pointed out the RiffBox looper by Backline Engineering, and it looked interesting:
http://www.backline-eng.com/RiffBox.html

I also noticed that they make this FX-Tracker, which also looks interesting:
http://www.backline-eng.com/FX-Tracker.html

Has anyone tried out this gear before?
