Would anyone have any idea as to what a dealer might pay for say a DW performer series kit?. I saw a set for 1500 and i cant say what id like to use as a trade-in in fear of being ostrisized from the community. I dont have a clue as to what mark up would be on something like this. The kit i have as a trade-in is a top of the line english kit never to be produced again and in excellent plus condition. Not being sentimental and having the kit in storage for years caused me to make this decision.

Really only the bass drum and tom are sling here. This bass drum really booms. Still searching for a matching floor tom. Cleaned up the snare for this kit also.

Little Blue Onyx Star

Hey everyone. Here's a little blue onyx or also called blue agate pearl Star kit I've recently picked up for a song for fun. In the cleanup mode right now. I've purchased some new heads and a kevlar strap for the bass drum pedal. I'm going to have to make my own cymbal rod for the bass drum mount and get a mini throne possibly too. I did finish cleaning up the snare. I lightly sanded the inside w/220 grit and coated it w/Tung oil. The snare is 10", bass drum 16", tom 9". Yes 9" tom...I found some vintage 9" NOS heads on eBay.

switched from Ambassador X to Genera coated

Switched my stock DW super Solid head to an Ambassador X and then a Genera coated and like it much better. More crack, more volume and less overtones. Also put Onyx on at church and can't wait to hear how they sound with the band :)

I have this Pacific kit I've used and wanted to do something with it because the wrap was warped. Pic below. I had given the 14" OSP brand FT ( had put a tom mount in the side so I could have 2 up if I wanted) to a young drummer in trade for that DelRey Blue onyx 14" FT that I needed for the 60's StarJr. kit.

I took this kit and Tung oiled the insides (I believe enhanced it), stained the outsides with a green tea color and poly coated it a few times. Played it last night at a party and really liked how they sounded forthis (Poplar wood?) kit.

I have a Pork Pie Big Black Brass 6.5x14" snare. It is still rockin' the factory head. I know this snare could sound sooo much better. What batter head do you all suggest I try? I am hoping to stick with Evans, but I'm open to other suggestions as well.

Head choice - Sonor Delite

Hi All,

I am trying to work out a good combination of top and bottom heads for new Sonor Delite kit. Sounds pretty good as is but just wanting to get it sounding as good as it can.

I have been told to stick with some thinner eg G1 heads for top and bottom toms to allow them to sing.

Just after any suggestions or combinations anyone has tried and what they find sounds pretty decent.

The styles I play are fairly laid-back so not after anything that is going to create a bit heavy sound. More of a jazzy feel to it I guess you would say.

Zildjian has discontinued my all time favorite china (hell, all time favorite cymbal): 20" Oriental Classic China. I love its instant attack which is coupled with a rich, full-bodied response that I have yet to find from other chinas, which tend to have instant attack but lack body. Unfortunately, after six years of service mine has developed a small crack, which has already started changing the sound a bit.

While I'm on the lookout for used versions of this cymbal, I was wondering if you all had any recommendations for similar sounding chinas from any brand?

I have been looking at the Prowire snares but am not sure which to get? It has a Zoomatic strainer, and is from the late sixties I believe. It is 20 strands I believe, I can't remember, I just know two of the strands are missing from abuse over the years from previous owners. It sounds horrible as is and I would like to fix it up!

Hi guys , I am planning to make the transition from Remo and Evans. I know that Remo has two factories, one in taiwan and one in the US, the one in taiwan is known to have less quality and lousier sound compared to the US made ones, i am planning to buy an Evans UNO set, which includes 3 G2 Tom heads, 1 EQ4 bass drum head and a HD coated snare head, this is made in china(taiwan too..?), but are these made in china ones lousier than the ones in the US? Or are Evans only made in China and not the US? I AM VERY CONFUSED! THANKS NOOB HERE!

Btw im not trying to insult china, im chinese, but since everything is made in china now.....

PURE SOUND VINTAGE SNARE WIRE (TAMA IMPERIALSTAR)

Hello! This is my first time posting.

I recently bought a Pure Sound Vintage Snare Wire for my Tama Imperialstar snare.

When ordering there was no option or recommendation for the snare wire.

It is for a 14'' snare drum.

The snare wire came in and when assembling it to the snare drum the snare wire has two metal hoops on the end for easy assembly.

the length of the total snare wire is about 17'' with the hoops added on.

These hoops are causing a problem because they are touching the roller and bend the snarewire.

NOW!! After research there are two versions of the TAMA IMPERIALSTAR SNARE

1. Kingbeat

2. Mastercraft.

I have a mastercraft and they have the roller system. The snare wire I bought was for a Kingbeat snare. The company does not tell you the different options and they do not offer different options for the snare wire when ordering.

There should be a clarification of Tama Imperialstar Kingbeat Snare Wire.

Has anyone run into this problem? If so how did you remedy the situation to get the snare wire on. I am just about to take the welder to it and straight up modify the snare wire and cutt the hoops off but I thought to ask thee almighty forum if anyone has advice. If you got it to work, how did you do it??

I am looking for a snare head that is focused, deep, fat but still have a crack to i (big sound)t. A good John Bonham tone (Led Zeppelin 1979 Knebworth Kashmir sound). I play a sonor set with G2 toms and a 14x5 sonor metal snare. I play a little bit of hip hop but mostly alternative rock.
I read Danny Carey uses power center- but his snare is 100 times better than mine. What's a good drum head that will resemble those qualities?

Any recommendations?

Wow, I havn't been on this board in some time! I had to sell my drums when I was staioned over seas for financial reasons. Zoom to the present, came back to the USA, got married, and hoping to buy a house so I can start druming again. Not much reason for this post I guess, other than to say hello to some old friends. I have to say these cymbals are very good for their price. Much better than B8's or ZBT's. Nice sounding for the dough. You won't be dissapointed choosing these as beginner cymbals. These particular ones were on eBay sold under Vintagelogos at the same price as or even a little lower than ZBT's or B8's in this config of a pack.

Ya know, if i hear a drummer say i use what the song calls for one more time (gear wise) im gonna puke. Does Chris Alder think that Lamb of gods music needs a 12'' snaredrum?.......Does the drummer for the Kentucky headhunters think their music calls for 28'' bass drums?.....you know where im going with this. Temperature change on cymbals and shells

Hi, I was wondering if acoustic drums (cymbals and wood shells) can suffer some kind of damage or deformation due to constant temperature changes. I'm a bit worried because my drumset is in a room where the sun is very strong at the afternoon but the temperature falls drastically at night.
