| About 4 out of 10 reeds choke after playing a few tunes. The store I buy from says it's been getting complaints from other sax players. Has anyone else had this problem.

| Well pretty much in any box of reeds from any brand there are bound to be a few reeds in there that people consider "bad". But remember the fact that reeds are plants and not one grows the same and produces the exact same tone. I am not a professional and I'm still trying to get an ear for a good tone but every reed will vary.(  If the reed comes pre-packaged as used then that would be a rip-off haha.) In my experiences I have had quite a few "bad" reeds that are somewhat hard to get a good tone from. What do you expect out of almost 8 years on clarinet  . Anyhow, best of luck to you the next time you purchase a box of reeds.  |
