| | Ya know?, im pretty jaded at my age. This kid at work was talking up Ronnie Vanucci of the Killers and im like ya ya ya...whatever. How can you grow up listening to Cobham, Bonzo, Paice, Porcaro, you know the list and be digging on Vanucci?. Anyway id heard of Stanton many times but was like yawn yawn get me some more shrimp. Im hanging and click on Olys post and im like what the hell?, this old buzzard is impressed?. Id completely written this guy off without a listen. Oly showed me that i can indeed be impressed today. Unreallity, thanks for the info. Being impressed with Stanton i went home and dug out my back issues of M.D. and found that he was playing a 4x14 titanium Dunnett. Thats one bad azz **##!! snare drum. |

| | Another great sounding snare Oly. Would i be wrong in saying that his snare sound has a sweet resonance instead of ring?. I like his sound being (full) and resonant, not overly snappy or crisp. Im also digging the warm oomoh of that giant bass drum. Dear god am i going to have to get one of those to!?. I just like Stantons (touch) on the kit. Hes pulling max warmth and tone from everything which that in itself creates a particular mood that i like. Carlock does this same thing. |

| | I was given the opertunity to see the guy, what i just realized was more than two years ago, with his trio, and yeah, he's got an amazing touch. His drum sound, what ever kind of kit, because he'll switch off between an 18 inch kick and a 26 inch kick, and he can make both of them sound HUGE. Oh, and by the way, I can understand being jaded, and i didn't grow up on bonham and piace. Most rock band these day just plain suck. I'm glad I learned of Led Zeppelin, Jimmi Hendricks, ZZ Top, and Deep Purple. |
