| Hey all,
Has anyone here experimented with using a .007 for a high A above E?
The 8 string guitar I'm getting has a 26.5" scale and is currently tuned (low to high) F#, B, E, A, D, G, B, E.
I'd like to get rid of the F# and instead go to:
B, E, A, D, G, C, E, A
I've seen videos of people using the Octave4 plus strings and getting similar scale lengths (and longer) to A440 using gauges from .005-->.007
(You can check out the Marshall Harrison video here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JslLRgpNhhc)
But I've always used D'addario .011s on my electrics and I'd like to keep using them - but I don't know how stable .007 is at that pitch. I'm also guessing the scale length will require 10's but I guess I'll see when it gets here.
Thanks!
scott
